How to create accountability.

  1. Set a Goal

  2. Hold your team to the Goal

    • If you exceeded the goal:

      • Celebrate with your team and incentivize them to do this all the time!

        • DO NOT CELEBRATE WITH PIZZA!! (the connotation of pizza being a celebration in the workplace is not good)

      • If you are always exceeding the production goal, think about moving the goal or put in a quality goal.

    • If you do not meet the goal:

      1. Hold them accountable, set standards (example: if we do not meet the goal for one week straight, we must work overtime)

        1. You need to have consequences for the actions taken but they need to be stated clearly so no one is surprised.

      2. No Favorites: Didn’t meet goal, then consequence. (Team can pick the consequence to ensure buy in)

      3. Tell your team what kind of celebration they can have once we are back to exceeding the goal. Motivate!
