Tips when applying for a new role.

With the recent layoffs I have been talking to my friends about their job searches.

Here are my top tips to follow!

  • Update your LinkedIn

    • So many Employers look at your LinkedIn profile, make sure its up to date and accurate.

    • Make sure your LinkedIn matches your resume

  • Create more than one Resume

    • I am interested in Healthcare and Lean Six Sigma, this means I have two resumes that focus on different skills and depending on the role you determine which resume to use

  • Cover Letter

    • It is a preference for each hiring manager, I have never used them and don’t plan on it.

  • Know which roles and titles you want to go after

    • Its better to have a strategy and understand what roles you want and what you want to do before applying.

    • I set LinkedIn searches for all job titles I am interested in so I can see all incoming roles and see which ones interest me.

  • Make sure you research the company you're applying to

    • Companies want to know you're interested in them and ONLY them. Put some work in, learn what the company does and what their mission is and how you can help with their mission. This will help with interview prep and those annoying application questions.

Remember you are worth it and happy hunting!
